Getting closer

Well that weekend went fast! Bob and I were busy with packing, sorting, and goodbye parties. Today, I packed up most of the bathroom which puts me back on schedule for what I wanted to accomplish by today. Bob's family picked up our washer/dryer to store for us along with some other random stuff. The big push for tomorrow is packing our clothes to take to my parent's house. So far so good. I'm not feeling too overwhelmed tonight.

My son had a bit of a rough day. I think all of the craziness at home and the late nights has lead to a very tired boy. I feel badly for him since he doesn't understand what's going on. I try to explain it to him but I know that he'll be okay. It probably doesn't help that mom and dad have been a bit crabby lately.

Tomorrow is Bob's last day of work. I'm sure he'll have mixed emotions throughout the day. We are very thankful for his job that he had here. It got us through college and a few years after. He learned a lot there and made some good friends. It's time to move on though. We have some exciting things ahead of us!

Monday - pack
Tuesday - pick up and load the moving truck, clean the house
Wednesday - move to WI
Thursday - unpack and get settled in
Friday - Bob's first day of work

Here we go!

Life is Messy

Those of you with children know that it is a never ending battle to keep the house clean. In fact, some days you just give up and let the house fall to pieces only to have more to clean the next time company comes over. I can imagine that the mess just multiplies as you have more children.

Moving has brought on a whole new meaning of messy for me. Not only is the normal vacuuming and sweeping not getting done but now I have boxes everywhere. Rooms are cluttered with a combination of toys, boxes, and packaging material. Our house has become a war zone. I feel like we should set up forts and play army or something.

However, with most of our stuff in boxes, it's amazing what we can live without. Yes, the random box gets opened sometimes so that we can get the pizza cutter out but how much of our stuff do we really need? I guess I would find out the longer we lived like this. Truthfully speaking though, I really don't want to.

So if any of you would like an epiphany, just pack all of your stuff away and see what you can live without. Then if you're like me, be ecstatic when you get to unpack it all to use again.

Random Thoughts

After yesterday's heavy post, I thought I'd do something a bit lighter today. Here are some random thoughts that I've had in my head while packing.

- Whoever coined the phrase "happy packing" obviously never moved before.

- The kitchen is the worst room to pack up in the house.

- The only one who doesn't seem affected by this move is our dog.

- Packing with a one year old makes things much more difficult.

- Oreos are what help me through the afternoon.

- We have a lot more stuff than I realize.

- We don't use half of the dishes that we own.

- I give my parents a lot of credit for moving with all of us kids.

- I'm glad I'm not a pioneer that has to fit everything into a covered wagon.

- Meals will be difficult now that I've packed up the kitchen.

- Did families move back in the early 1900's as often as they do now?

- Will technology make people move more or less in the future?

- It's a strange feeling to see all of your possessions in boxes.

- Bob needs new clothes.

- I really hope that our next place has a dishwasher.

Thanks again for reading!

One week until the big day

I'm sure I'm going to hear about this from my husband. I probably used the wrong blogging site to set this up. This is just another one of those random, spur-of-the-moment things I do that makes me who I am.

Well, it's one week until we move. I am currently taking a break from packing. My son is napping and I feel the need to be creative. My husband recently took a job offer in the big city of Milwaukee. I'm not exaggerating when I say "big city". We currently live in a small town of 14,000, which isn't that small when you think about it. This will be a homecoming for me, since I was born in the metro area but my husband will be venturing out for the first time in his life. Now, he's traveled outside of our town many times but has never claimed residence to another place.

We're both excited and nervous at the same time. New things always carry their weight of apprehension. My prayer every night is that God blesses this move and my husbands career. I'm jealous of those college students who graduate with no loans and the perfect job that they'll hold until they retire. That is definitely not us. Oh well, they're probably bored with their lives, right? It feels good to think that.

I'm not sure how long blogs are suppose to be. By the way, I don't claim to be any sort of "good" writer. I love to write but often fall short when it comes to grammar and punctuation. So if you are so inclined as to read my blog, please disregard any errors that would lower my grade from an A to a C.

Well, that's all for now. I'll write more soon in between all of the packing!
